Bike nicked
I have recently had my Gas Gas 250cc trials bike stolen. It is a particularly unusual model as it is a 1989 air cooled monoshock model. I was hoping that I could suppy you with details of the frame number and if it should arrive at any of your trials and not with its rightful owner - myself.
The Number is GG x 89 x 1289 x 5167
My contact details are Grant Gundelfinger, 11 Broadgate Crescent, Horsforth, Leeds LS18 4HG. Tel 07977 420547 or 07768700653
I would appreciate any and all of your help at this time.
Kind regards
Grant Gundelfinger
Stolen Bike - Found
The Police appear to have had a success here and the bike was recovered from a garage in Armley. However this is not the first time and it will not be the last so please look in your rear view mirror when transporting your bike back from events or practice. Report anything to either us or the police so as we can make everyone aware.
World Round
Update as at 7/4/8 - the flight out was only half full!. Very wild & windy but a brilliant weekend nonetheless. Pics to follow hopefully. If you missed it, there's aways next year - Bangor is the first round of the 2009 WTC and is the only venue in Europe to host a double header - 1 round on Saturday and another on Sunday
Stolen
Everyone lookout - Russ Brodie's Beta Rev 3 was stolen last sunday (3rd Feb)from his house in Pudsey. Russ believes he may have been followed home from Swaine Woods where he was praticing on sunday afternoon. Frame Number ZD3B9000020005744 Engine Number ZD3BT024980AA09. Please keep an eye for this bike and eye on who is following you home from trials or any other venue.
More on Tong
From Roger Williams.....'it was my first trial with horsforth on sunday and with wet conditons for the last week it was a very good trial, first class' and Neil Crampton....Cheers for a wonderful day out lads. I think the changes worked really well and gave people of all abilities a really enjoyable day. I followed a guy from Lincoln around and I swear he never stopped smiling once and is looking forward to coming up again as soon as possible. The easy route was spot on for people of my ability and I gained so much confidence because I felt that I could give all sections a real go without the fear of injury to myself or my pride. Well done to all of you at the club and many thanks once again.
Kevin KPNuts
"Sunday at Tong - the best day I have had yet since starting 12 months ago". - Thanks Kev. If you think likewise or otherwise click on 'contact' and tell us. Thanks to all those who took the time out to pass on their thoughts to us at the trial. (Most seemed to think it was a good do).
New 50/50 for 2008
Having run 50/50 sections for the first time on the Novice and Beginners trials in 2007 the general consensus was that it was broadly successful but maybe the sections tended to be a bit on the hard side for each of the 3 route options. So, for 2008 there are 2 changes; 1 - the 50/50 continues on all N&B but each route will be eased a bit; 2 - the Champs trials will also feature 50/50 and will also be eased down in severity a bit - particularly on the easy route (but each route on the champs will obviously still be a bit harder than the equivalent routes on N&B trials). On a champs trial most of the (previous) easy course riders should be comfy on the 50/50 and the easiest route on N&B should be better suited for beginners. (Details of the effects on the trophies up for grabs will follow shortly). First trial to this format is Home Farm Champs on 20th Jan - have a look at a few sections, ride what you think is appropriate and let us know what you think. (We will probably run the May Day Presidents trial as a 50/50 too). GS 3/1/8
Youth Rules
Kids must be at least 6 to get an ACU Trials Registration Card and at least 16 to ride in adult events.Youth A ride 125cc if born between 1/1/91 and 31/12/92. Youth B, 125cc between 1/1/93 and 31/12/95. Youth C, 80cc between 1/1/96 and 31/12/98 and Youth D, 50cc mono or 80cc twinshock, between 1/1/99 and 31/12/02. An A class rider can continue until the end of the year their 17th birthday falls. Licences can be upgraded at anytime without charge. Bob Owen Trial
Well over a thousand pounds (actually £1133 now all the coppers have been counted) were raised which will go to the nominated charities;- the ACU Ben fund and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Thanks for everyone who contributed and hope everyone enjoyed the day. GS 05/12/07 and 03/01/08
Home Farm
At last I am pleased to report that, as far as anyone can foresee, our future events at Home Farm will continue. There are some restrictions placed on the use of the land that don't really affect us other than to say that as with the last event there, parking will be in the bottom left hand field - not up the track. And if we do post notices about any restrictions on the day, please observe them. Rebbecca and her dad David who run Home Farm have had a difficult and costly few months fighting the powers that be to enable events to continue there. Lets show our thanks by turning up for trials there but remember to respect the rules and the environment. GS 10/10/7
Club Sponsors
For the first time in 2006 our Wednesday evening trials featured prizes kindly sponsored by Knox Sawmills -a big thank you to Rob Hardisty for that. For 2007 Knox Sawmills have agreed to increase their involvement by sponsoring our main Championship events and TrialsUK.co.uk have agreed to sponsor the Wednesday night series (thanks to Nige Pearson).
Evening Trial winners (& their prizes) can be downloaded from the Sponsors tab at the top of the page. Meanwhile, if you need some trials stuff or a demon dog kennel have a look at www.trialsuk.co.uk and www.knoxsawmills.co.uk. GS 09/09/07
Great Pics
Some really good photos of some of this year's Home Farm trials plus various other pics from Broo. Copy this link into your browser bar to view them http://www.flickr.com/photos/paulbroo/ If anyone wants a copy of any pics email us in 'Contact'.
Observation
Yet more from www.trialonline.org. Found some info on observation rules which are more than usually helpful with some dinky graphics. They are world round rules from 2003 but as far as I can tell are the TRS22a rules that we use (1 for a stop). Just ignore the bits that obviously only apply to World events (like entry corridors, tapes, time limit etc) The section on How Do You Mark in Guide to Trials has been updated to include more details. download here GS
World Rounds
In 'Links' there is a link to www.trialonline.org where you will find lots of info on the world rounds & riders. Pity our four intrepid travellers who ventured to the Czech Republic didn't look here first. They might then have known which one of 4 towns called Kramolin to go to. Muppets. Handbook 07 is the one you want. There is also a section containing all the World Round rules (From 2006) - you can find them on there or to save you the trouble download here GS
Excel
Still haven't worked out how to enable the results to be downloaded as PDF's as opposed to Excel. So if you haven't got excel on your steam powered PC go to www.openoffice.org and download their spreadsheet program which should enable you to read the excel files. Maybe. Good News - Chris Maggs confirms this actually works!
New sections for 2007
A number of clubs run some trials as 50/50's. That effectively means instead of 2 courses there are 3 (well sort of). 'Easy' ride all easy courses. 'Hard' ride all hard courses. 50/50 ride easy or hard according to the marker at the start of the section. We are trying this out on our Novice and Beginner trials - largely because these have the widest spread of rider skill and also so if we cock it up we don't affect the events with established trophies etc. Champs, Group and Evening trials will remain as they are until we see how successful the N&B's are.
Everyone rides through the reds and blues EXCEPT where there is an alterative easier white and yellow gate for the easy (or 50/50 according to the sign) route.
Those little flags
It's not rocket science, honestly. Each section is marked out with red and blue flags - just make sure you keep the red flags on the right. If you are on the hard course, that's all you need to know.
If you are on the easy course its really really confusing 'cos you have to remember that if there is an alternative pair of yellow and white flags, you have to go through those instead keeping the white flags on your right.
Two reasons for us marking this way.
1. It encourages us to have one section but with harder bits in it (to give the better riders something to show off on) - as opposed to 2 completely different sections which just happen to share the same start and end flags.
2. (Far more important!)- it saves carrying twice as many flags around when we are marking out.
Hope this is all nice and clear.
